Wandering Around The Family Tree

  I'm very lucky to have several of my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) photo albums. And perhaps even luckier that she labeled many of the photos - so I know roughly when and where they were taken, and who was in the photos.  My grandmother attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1915-1916, and then Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1916-1919.  Most of the photos on pages 153 through 156 look to have been taken in the spring of 1919, around the time of the School of Home Economics Senior Breakfast at Cornell.  Page 153 - After the Senior Breakfast at Home Economics, 1919 Beth Allis and Evelyn Clara Call Beth Allis - Ethel Elizabeth Allis (1897-1989) daughter of Henry Selden Allis and Ethel May Pierson. Unfortunately most of the people in the photos are not identified.  Page 151 Louise Breck  C.U. '19 Louise Breck - Frances Louise Breck (1894 - 1981) daughter of William Walter Breck and Sarah Holman. She married Byron Kenneth Field (1896-1954). She earned an A.B. degree from Cornell in 1919.  Clara Loveland C.U. '22 Clara Loveland - Clara Nell Loveland (1899-1989) daughter of Herbert Loveland and Mabel Vanliew. And perhaps even luckier that she labeled many of the photos - so I know roughly when and where they were taken, and who was in the photos.  My grandmother attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1915-1916, and then Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1916-1919 Page 148 has photographs of a trip to New York City in March 1919.  The first two photographs were taken from the top of a bus traveling along Fifth Avenue The second photograph was taken looking north up Fifth Avenue. The intersection at the bottom of the photo is Fifth Avenue and East 38th Street. In 1919, the flagship store for Knox Hats was at 452 Fifth Avenue. The New York Public Library is located between the buildings advertising Knox Hats and Goodrich Tires.  The remaining three photographs were taken in Central Park, near the Obelisk behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
