Early 1900s Call Album - Page 49

Image
Sometime in about 1904, someone in my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) family started taking photographs and placing them in an album. My grandmother was nine in 1904, so she could have been the photographer. Or it could have been one of her parents Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) or Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1861-1956). Most of the early photographs are of family gatherings and places someone visited. I believe by about 1911, my grandmother was taking the photographs. There are photos of her classmates at Batavia High School and groups of teenage girls.  The Call family live in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. They had a cottage at Silver Lake in Wyoming County. So many of the photos were taken in these locations.  The middle two photographs on the page date from before April 1907. The top two were likely taken at the Call family home in Stafford, Genesee County, New York.  Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call  Elizabeth Ann Coe was born 8 October 1862 in Pavilion...

Charles Joslin Call and Elizabeth Ann Coe's photo album from the 1880s and 1890s

I've added a digital version of my great grandparents' Charles Joslin Call and Elizabeth Ann Coe's photo album from the 1880s and 1890s to the Internet Archive to make sure that copies of the photographs survive if anything should ever happen to the original album, and so that future family members and genealogists have access to the information.  The digital version has the photos and some of the information from the blog posts about the photos from my blog.  You can find it on Internet Archive at  Charles J Call and Elizabeth A Coe Photo Album   Currently, you need to download the pdf rather than reading it online. To download a copy - scroll down on the page and on the right are download options. The PDF is probably the easiest to download.  You can see all the photographs and the blog posts which have more information than are in the digital version starting at  https://pattyhankins.blogspot.com/p/charles-joslin-call-and-elizabeth-ann.html

George Coe (?) - c 1884 - page 30 of Charles Joslin Call and Elizabeth Ann Coe's Photo Album

Image
The twenty-fifth photograph in the album is identified as George Coe (?).  Assuming it is George Coe, the question then becomes which George Coe was a close enough relative to Elizabeth Ann Coe to be included in her photograph album. It was taken in Rochester, Monroe County, New York in 1884.  Elizabeth Ann had three close relatives named George - her uncle, George W. Coe (1831-1906), and her two cousins George Albert Coe (1862-1951) and George Ellsworth Coe (1863-1905). The photograph shows a young man, which would rule out George W. Coe. George Ellsworth Coe lived in Michigan all his life. He married in Michigan in 1884. So while it is possible this is a photograph of George Ellsworth Coe taken on a visit to relatives in Rochester, I think it unlikely.  The most likely candidate for a young man named George Coe to have his photograph taken in Rochester in 1884 is George Albert Coe. He was born on 26 March 1862 in Mendon, Monroe County, New York, the son of George...
