Trip to New York City - March 1919 - Page 148

  I'm very lucky to have several of my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) photo albums. And perhaps even luckier that she labeled many of the photos - so I know roughly when and where they were taken, and who was in the photos.  My grandmother attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1915-1916, and then Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1916-1919 Page 148 has photographs of a trip to New York City in March 1919.  The first two photographs were taken from the top of a bus traveling along Fifth Avenue The second photograph was taken looking north up Fifth Avenue. The intersection at the bottom of the photo is Fifth Avenue and East 38th Street. In 1919, the flagship store for Knox Hats was at 452 Fifth Avenue. The New York Public Library is located between the buildings advertising Knox Hats and Goodrich Tires.  The remaining three photographs were taken in Central Park, near the Obelisk behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
