Frank Marion Kellam

 I found three photos of my great grandmother's brother Frank Marion Kellam. My guess is his legal name was Francis - but I have never seen any record that has anything other Frank Marion or Frank M. 

The first photograph was taken by the photographer Davis in Deposit, Delaware County, New York. This is the same studio where Mary Ellen (Ross) Hankins had her photo taken. I haven't found any information about the photographer. 

This photo was likely taken in the late 1880s. Frank was born in 1877. 

This photograph was clearly stacked with the 1898 photograph of William Lucas Hankins's family since you can see a transfer of that image onto the back of this card.




This second photograph was likely taken in the mid-1890s based on the border around the photograph and the style of the photographer's imprint. The photographer, Walter Nelson Manchester (1856-1923) had a studio in Factoryville, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania in the 1890s. 





The third photograph of Frank was taken at the studio of T.D. Lewis in Kingston, Ulster County, New York. Theodore Davis Lewis (1851-1917) worked as a photographer in Kingston from the 1880s through 1911. So this photo was likely taken before 1911. 




Frank Marion Kellam, son of John Ross Kellam (1830-1903) and Frances Maria Shafer (1845-1924), was born 11 April 1877 in Hankins, Sullivan County, New York. He married Minnie Ruth Spelman (1884-1957), daughter of Charles W Spelman and E Adelle Clark, on 12 October 1918 in Chatham, Columbia County, New York. He died on 2 December 1952 in Groton, Tompkins County, New York. 

Frank and Minnie had a daughter, Emadele K Kellam (1921-2002).

Early 1900s Call Album - Page 38

Sometime in about 1904, someone in my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) family started taking photographs and placing them in an album. My grandmother was nine in 1904, so she could have been the photographer. Or it could have been one of her parents Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) or Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1861-1956). Most of the early photographs are of family gatherings and places someone visited. I believe by about 1911, my grandmother was taking the photographs. There are photos of her classmates at Batavia High School and groups of teenage girls.  The Call family live in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. They had a cottage at Silver Lake in Wyoming County. So many of the photos were taken in these locations.  A lady was vising Sarah once, when they, father and mother, were old people. Father told this lady something of his love story, and said that he loved her more and more as the years went by. He made some pretty remark about mother after she dressed for their Golden Wedding "As sweet as she was fifty years ago!" I am sorry I cannot recall exactly. The winter of his last illness he so wanted her by his side all the time, and could would turn with such a look of utter weariness to lay his head against her. Before he went away he said, "You won't be long, will you, Mother?" In their old age, they used a playful wit and humor and badinage with each other that was most charming, but I doubt if I could reproduce it in writing, even if I could remember it.  They were strict Methodists, and were against card playing and dancing, which were never introduced in our home.
