Image
I've started editing/re-editing some family photos. Figure I'll post the images here as groups, and add to the posts as I get photos edited. These will be photographs related to Robert Call and Charlotte Joslin.  Shared December 2024  I believe this is a Christmas card sent to my grandmother Evelyn Clara (Call) Hankins by her cousin Rosalind Daniels in 1941. She included photographs of two crayon drawings of their grandparents Robert Call and Charlotte Joslin. Rosalind identified the artist as her mother Elizabeth Alberta (Call) Daniels who created the drawings in 1891.  Robert Call and Charlotte (Joslin) Call Scan of a modern print of an early 1900s photograph.

Create A TIFF File from a Table in Microsoft Word Using Photoshop Elements

Image
I recently completed Tom Jones' Masterclass  Advanced Genealogical Writing Skills Using Microsoft Word  offered through the  Family History Academy.   The class was incredible - I had no clue how much I didn't know about using Microsoft Word. If the class is offered again, I highly recommend it if you want to improve the look of your genealogy writing.  One of the topics Tom discussed was preparing Tables and Figures for print publications. They often need to be sent as TIFF files. Tom showed us how to create the files using Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Adobe Photoshop.  But since I don't have Adobe Acrobat Pro, I had to figure out another way to do it. Turns out, it's easy to do in either Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements. I have Elements 2023 so instructions are based on that version - my guess is process will be similar in other editions.  1. Create your table in MS Word and save as a PDF file. 2. Open Photoshop Elem...

Julia and Merret Seeley Two of Merritt and Lizzie Seeley ’s children died unmarried within a few years of their father’s death. Julia died at age fourteen of typho-malarial fever at Great Barrington on 11 January 1887.[133]   Typho-malarial fever was likely a joint infection of typhoid fever and malaria. Common symptoms were diarrhea, the red rash of typhoid fever, and the periodic fever of malaria. A case of typho-malarial fever usually lasted between two and six weeks.[134] Like his mother, Merret Seeley died of consumption.[135]  Merret had been in ill health for several years prior to his death. As early as 1895, he was spending winters in warmer climates in hopes of improving his health.[136]  When his health permitted, he worked as a clerk in a clothing store, Hatch & Dewey, in Great Barrington. [137] Figure 14. Battery Park Hotel. Asheville, North Carolina, 1902 [138] Sometime in the fall of 1896, Merret arrived in Asheville, Buncombe County,...
