Family Connections - August 27 1901
Every now and then I find a mention in a newspaper that shows how closely the Call and Joslin families maintained ties over the years and across the miles.
On Aug 27 1901, there was a brief article on page 4 about Departure of Guests - if you know who is who - it's fascinating to see who was visiting Robert & Charlotte Call & family that month.
Mrs Sara Joslin and son George of Wisconsin - are Sarah Adams (1852-1925) wife of Samuel Joslin (1840-1913) and her son George Joslin (1882-1967). Samuel Joslin was a younger brother of Charlotte Joslin (1834-1908), wife of Robert Call (1831-1913). Although not clear from this mention, an article earlier in the month stated the Joslins were visiting at Robert Call's
Mr and Mrs Alfred Jones of Chelsea, Mass - are Alfred Edward Jones (1863-1931) and Martha P.M. Walker (1863-1962). Alfred was the son William Jones (1820-1894) and Ann Joslin (1836-1917), sister of Charlotte Joslin. Alfred and Martha were married on November 21, 1900 in Boston.
Mr and Mrs Fred Call of Chicago - are Frederick R Call (1865-1926) and Blanche Lee Plew (1877-1920). Frederick was the son of John Paine Call (1817-1895) and Jane Goddard (1823-1879). John Paine Call was Robert Call's older brother.
Miss Julia Head of Michigan - is Julia Ann Call (1852-1944), daughter of John Paine Call. In 1901, she was the widow of Albert Head (about 1850 - before 1900). She would marry Andrew Friant (1830-1918) between 1904 and 1907.
Miss Rose Call - is Rose B. Call (about 1861 - 1939) daughter of John Paine Call.
Mr and Mrs Walter Daniels - are Elizabeth Alberta Call (1862-1929), daughter of Robert Call and Charlotte Joslin and her husband Walter Scott Daniels (1863-1918)
What I found interesting is the combination of people visiting. The Joslins of Wisconsin didn't visit as often as the Joslins of Chelsea (family of Charlotte's older brother William). The Jones family is rarely mentioned as visting - this is the first time I've found mention of Alfred visiting. And this is the first time I've seen mention of any, much less three, of John Paine Call's children visiting Robert Call and his family members.
