Memories of the Calls 2 - Charlotte Call
On Page 74 Vol I of the Family Records, I note the following from the Obituary of Mother Call.
Mrs. Robert Call at 3 o'clock (Sept 27 1908) at her home in this town aged 74 years. Her health had been failing for a number of years, but pneumonia, with which she was afflicted only a little more than two days, was the immediate cause of her death. She is survived by her husband; four brothers William Joslin of Chelsea, Mass; The Rev. G.A. Joslin of Madison, Wisc.; Samuel Joslin of Batavia; one sister Mrs. Ann Jones of Chelsea; (Mass.) three children Albert H. and Chas. J Call and Mrs. Lizzie A Daniels, 12 grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces, including Mrs Flora E. Challice who has tenderly and devotedly cared for her during the years of failing health.
Mrs Call, whose maiden name was Charlotte Joslin was born in Devonshire, England in 1835. At the age of twenty years she want to Mass. and was married to Robert Call. In 1858 Mr. and Mrs. Call came to Stafford where they have since resided, with the exception of one year in Elba. Mr. and Mrs. Call were the last married couple surviving of those in their vicinity in Stafford who were here when they came fifty years ago.
Mrs. Call was an enthusiastic church and temperance worker, retaining her interest in these courses to the last days of her life. She was an active member of the Morganville Christian Church for 45 years. For twenty years, from the time of its organization till infirmity compelled her to lessened activity, she was president and mainstay of the prosperous W.C.T.U. of Stafford and Morganville. She was also for many years a faithful superintendent of departments and works in the county W.C.T.U. A Good Templar, she was always greatly interested in the welfare of the young people. Her home was ever a hospitable one.
Mrs. Call was a woman of more than ordinary personal attraction and fine qualities of heart and mind, and very many outside of her immediate circle of friends feel that the world is better for her having lived and labored here.
