Photographs from The Calls 1935-1943

There are a few pages of photographs at the back of The Calls 1935-1943 manuscript. Since I've been working off a photocopy of the original, the photographs are not very clear or detailed. When I digitized them, they show the detail that is in the photocopies, but not much else.

This appears to be an early photograph of the house on Prospect Farm in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. The trees are much smaller than in later photographs. The women seem to be wearing dresses more from the nineteenth-century than the twentieth-century.

The photographs on page 109 are also of Prospect Farm, Based on the size of the trees, my guess is taken later than the photograph on page 108. Unfortunately, I cannot read the handwriting along the side of the page.

This photograph was taken in England, probably in Torquay Cemetery, Torquay, Devonshire. It shows the gravestone for John Call and Grace Call - parents of Robert Call.  What type of photograph it is is unknown. The date it was taken is unknown. The identity of the people in the photograph is unknown. How the photograph made it to New York is unknown, And why Elizabeth Ann Coe Call included it in the back of the manuscript - is also unknown. But I am very glad she did.

On Page 115, Elizabeth transcribed the information on the gravestone which helped me read the information on the photocopy I have

In
Memory of
Grace Call
who departed this life Jan 19th 1862
Aged 72 years
"Far from a world of grief's sin; with God's
eternal saints to sing, in Glory"

And of
John Call
who died March 27th 1872
Aged 84 years
"They hope to be present with the Lord,
that the labours of mortal life
may end in a large reward"

This is the only  family source I've found that gives the exact dates of death for either John Call or Grace Call. Information in the Devon Burials database on FindMyPast  has some of the information from the gravestone, and provided the information about what cemetery they were buried in.
