Mrs Rosetta Tyler Hankins N.Y.

Rosetta Ross was born 6 June 1819 in New York, the daughter of John Ross and Love Hurd. She married Benjamin Tyler, son of Benjamin Tyler and Sarah Kellam in August 1839. Rosetta Ross Tyler died 3 April 1888.

Rosetta Ross Tyler's relationship to Mary Jane Kellam is where my family tree ties itself up in knots.

Looking at the closest relationship between Mary Jane Kellam and Rosetta Ross, they were first cousins once removed, both descended from John Ross and Sophia Tyler.

Or they were related in this way - Rosetta was Mary Jane Kellam's husband's mother's half-sister. Benjamin Tyler and Rosetta Ross were step-siblings - her father married his mother after their first spouses died. Mary Ellen Ross was both Benjamin and Rosetta's half-sister, sharing a mother with Benjamin and a father with with Rosetta. Mary Ellen Ross was William Lucas Hankins's mother. William Lucas Hankins was Mary Jane Kellam's husband.

Or if you look at the 1875 map of Hankins, Sullivan County, New York, Rosetta and her husband Benjamin were Mary Jane Kellam's next-door neighbors as she was growing up.
