May Birthdays from Mary Jane Kellam's Birthday Book

Here are the May Birthday's from Mary Jane Kellam's Birthday Book

May 3 -

Mary F. Bell  B.S.N.S. 1895

Mary Frantz Bell was born 3 May 1875 in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of George McDowell Bell and Charlotte Elizabeth Frantz. She graduated from Bloomsburg Literary Institute and State Normal School in 1896 having completed the elementary course. She married William Kirkland Ferguson in 1901 and she died 10 September 1965 in Montana.

May 8

Mrs Rebina W. Da Ratt

Probably the Rebina W. Daratt (1863-1926) buried in Auburn, New York. She likely is the Rebenia Daratt enumerated with James W Daratt (b abt 1863) and Howard (b abt 1884) in Auburn in 1892. In 1910, Rebina and Howard are still in Auburn, she is listed as a widow. James Williard Daratt is listed in the Auburn City Directories for several years in the early 1890s. He may be the James Willard Daratt (b in Auburn New York in 1863 who died in Madison, Wisconsin in 1945). According to FindAGrave, this James Willard Daratt married three times - the first in 1898 - and none of them to Rebina. Both James W Daratts were born about 1863-4, are linked to Auburn, New York, and have their occupation listed as salesman. I have not been able to find a marriage record for Rebina and James DaRatt, or any documents specifying a relationship between James, Rebina and Howard. Howard died in 1926, and is buried in the same part of Fort Hill Cemetery as Rebina, and their gravestones look very similar in photos on FindAGrave.

May 9

Mrs Sarah Marx    Andes

Sarah Hawver  was born 9 May 1838 in New York, daughter of Andrew Hawver and Elizabeth Mann. By 1850, her family was living in Andes, Delaware County, New York. She married Simon Marx in 1856. She died in Andes in 1912, and is buried there. Mary Jane Kellam's mother was from Andes, and she had many relatives living there, so that may be how she knew Mrs. Sarah Marx.

May 11

Floyd Harding

Floyd Harding was born 11 May 1876 in Port Jervis, Orange County, New York, the son of James H. Harding and Anna C. He married Clara Belle Kellam, daughter of John Ross Kellam and Frances Maria Shaver on 9 October 1906 at Hankins, Sullivan County, New York. Floyd Harding died on 13 February 1948. He was Mary Jane Kellam's brother-in-law.

May 20

Clara E. Smith   Northford, Conn.

May 21

Mrs. Geo. F. Feries

May 24

1876  Maye S. Peck  1891  Brandt Penn. Sus. Co

May Stata Peck was born May 24, 1876 in Brandt, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Horace O. Peck and Emma Davis. She married William Henry McKay in 1905. She died in Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York on 15 October 1942. I'm not sure what the 1891 in this entry refers to, or how she knew Mary Jane Kellam.

May 25

Miss Irma Pixley

Irma Pixley was born 25 May 1889 in New York, the daughter of William Pixley and Estelle Wheeler. In 1924, she married Oscar T Mauer in Auburn, New York. She was listed as living in Auburn between 1916 and 1923 according to city directories. She died in 1972 in Syracuse, New York. Presumably she knew Mary Jane Kellam when they both lived in Auburn in the 1910s and 1920s.

May 27

Ada Ehrnhout    Liberty, NY

Ada Ernhout was born 27 May 1867 in Sullivan County, New York, the daughter of Henry Ernhout and Cynthia Misner. The family was living in Liberty, Sullivan County by 1870. She married Richard Burr Maffett on 16 October 1895. She died 23 April 1917 in Liberty.
