Early 1900s Call Family Album - page 4

Sometime in about 1904, someone in my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) family started taking photographs and placing them in an album. My grandmother was nine in 1904, so she could have been the photographer. Or it could have been one of her parents Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) or Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1861-1956). Most of the early photographs are of family gatherings and places someone visited. I believe by about 1911, my grandmother was taking the photographs. There are photos of her classmates at Batavia High School and groups of teenage girls. 

The Call family live in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. They had a cottage at Silver Lake in Wyoming County. So many of the photos were taken in these locations. 


Two of the photographs on this page are definitely photos of Irving Joslyn Call, my grandmother's younger brother. The others may well be photos of Irving as well, there just aren't enough details to be sure. 






Irving Joslyn Call

Irving Joslyn Call, son of Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) and Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1862-1956) was born 21 July 1900 in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. He married Thelma Louise Keitel (22 Jun3 1905 - 6 September 1996) on 22 Jun3 1927 at Albion, Orleans County, New York. He died 30 December 1995 at Stafford, Genesee County, New York.

This week's prompt for  Amy Johnson Crow's 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks project  is Long Line. I had a couple of ideas for this week and finally settled on the long line of extended Call and Joslin family members who immigrated from Devonshire to the United States between the 1830s and early 1900s.  I have to wonder if in 1851 when my great great grandparents Robert Call and Charlotte Joslin were both servants on the farm of Robert Reed in Chawleigh, Devonshire, England if they had any idea how many members of their extended families would immigrate to the United States.  As far as anyone knows, Robert and Charlotte met at the Reed farm. Within two years of the 1851 census, Robert had immigrated to the Boston, Massachusetts area.
