Early 1900s Call Album - Page 8

 Sometime in about 1904, someone in my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) family started taking photographs and placing them in an album. My grandmother was nine in 1904, so she could have been the photographer. Or it could have been one of her parents Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) or Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1861-1956). Most of the early photographs are of family gatherings and places someone visited. I believe by about 1911, my grandmother was taking the photographs. There are photos of her classmates at Batavia High School and groups of teenage girls. 

The Call family live in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. They had a cottage at Silver Lake in Wyoming County. So many of the photos were taken in these locations. 



Charles Arthur Call, ?, ?, ?, ? 

Charles Arthur Call, son of Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) and Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1862-1956) was born 8 October 1885 in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. He married Bertha May Hotchkiss (11 April 1882-19 July 19446) on 28 July 1909 in Gainesville, Wyoming County, New York. He later married Anna Frances Meyer (9 December 1886-25 February 1971) on 5 July 1947. Charles Arthur Call died on 1 August 1962 at Niagara Falls, Niagara County, New York. 

The other boys in the photograph may be sons of Frank Lincoln Walkley and Carrie Evelyn Coe.

Evelyn Clara Call, daughter of Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) and Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1862-1956) was born 12 February 1895 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. She married Francis William Hankins (8 September 1897 - 9 October 1983) on 31 December 1920 in Stafford. She died on 10 June 1962 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. 


Edith Alberta Call

Edith Alberta Call, daughter of Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) and Elizabeth Ann (Coe) Call (1862-1956) was born 5 June 1889 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. She married Malvern Smith Jones (5 February 1884-8 February 1937) on 26 June 1913 in Stafford. She later married Cary Clinton Daniels (10 February 1878 - 17 May 1970) on 29 September 1945 in Stafford. She died on 23 November 1989 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.

This week's prompt for  Amy Johnson Crow's 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks project  is Long Line. I had a couple of ideas for this week and finally settled on the long line of extended Call and Joslin family members who immigrated from Devonshire to the United States between the 1830s and early 1900s.  I have to wonder if in 1851 when my great great grandparents Robert Call and Charlotte Joslin were both servants on the farm of Robert Reed in Chawleigh, Devonshire, England if they had any idea how many members of their extended families would immigrate to the United States.  As far as anyone knows, Robert and Charlotte met at the Reed farm. Within two years of the 1851 census, Robert had immigrated to the Boston, Massachusetts area.
