Alfred Tyler (1811-1874)

 


The tenth photo in the album is Alfred Tyler (1811-1874) - husband of Mary Ellen (Ross) Hankins' half sister Phebe Jane Tyler and Mary Ellen's first cousin on the Tyler side, and first cousin once removed of Lucas Wurtz Hankins on the Monington side, and his second cousin once removed on the Tyler side. 

Alfred Tyler was born 11 February 1811 in Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York, the son of William Tyler (1775-1820) and Mary Monington (1785-1853). He married Phebe Jane Tyler (1816-1902), daughter of Benjamin Tyler (1791-1818) and Sarah Kellam (1797-after 1850), on 25 November 1832. 

Alfred and Phebe Jane had nine children: 

  • Sarah M (1834-1900) married Joseph R Ross
  • Benjamin (1835-1903) married Vesta Turner
  • Mary E (1838-????) married Depuy Teeple
  • Barilla (1840-1922) married Elias Ross
  • William E (1842-1923) married Mary A Turner
  • Warren (1846-1848)
  • Vergil (1848-????) 
  • Israel H (1852-1921) married Caroline Deck
  • Rosetta (1853-1933)
Alfred Tyler died on 24 April 1874 and is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, Wayne County, Pennsylvania.
