Memories of the Calls 9 - George Joslin (Rev.)

George Joslin, another brother, was a minister for some years in England. He came to America about 1881. He went to Wisconsin, where he joined the Methodist Conference, and preached for many year. When he retired, he bought a home in Madison. His children were educated in Madison. He was quite a successful business man, as well as in his profession. He had three children Mary, Stanley, and Vera. The girls were pretty and charming. Stanley is a successful Methodist minister.

George Adams Joslin (1844-1921)


George Adams Joslin was born April 10, 1844 in Meshaw, Devon, England. He was the second George Adams Joslin born to his parents  Robert Bird Joslin and Mary Adams. They had a son, George Adams Joslin born on December 26, 1838 in South Mouton, Devon and died there July 10, 1840.

According to his obituary, he began preaching at age 18, so in about 1863. He married Mary Whitford Verrin (1841-1908) on Sept 4, 1873 in Redruth, Cornwall, England.

George, Mary and their two older children arrived in Boston on January 3, 1881. The family settled in Wisconsin.

George died on March 6, 1921 in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin

Mary Ann Joslin was born on June 11, 1876 in Lifton, Devon, England. She immigrated to the U.S. with her parents in 1881. She married Reuben Harker Calvert (1867-1915) on December 7, 1898 in Sauk County, Wisconsin. She died on February 7, 1965 in Madison.

George Stanley Joslin was born on May 5, 1879 in Faversham, Kent, England. He immigrated to the U.S. with his parents in 1881. He married Mable Enora Starks (1880-1938) on October 24, 1903 in Waushara, Wisconsin. He died on December 12, 1952 in Marinette, Marinette, Wisconsin. 
Elizabeth Verran Joslin was born on January 8, 1887 in Benton, Lafayette, Wisconsin. She married Homer Little Rivers (1887-1974) on June 27, 1923 in Denver, Denver, Colorado. She died on February 4, 1971 in Richland Center, Richland, Wisconsin.
