Memories of the Calls 8 - Ann Joslin

Ann Joslin came from England with mother. She married William Jones a plumber and gas fitter. They lived in Chelsea. She was the mother of seven boys and two girls. The boys were, William, Samuel, George, Alfred, Frank, Robert, Charles. The girls were Mary and Elizabeth. Samuel was drowned in 1877. He was a very bright student. Mary died young with tuberculosis. William worked here one year on the farm, and another year for Uncle William at Elba. All but three are now dead.

Ann Joslin Jones is in the front row on the left in this 1904 photo of the six Joslin siblings.

Ann Joslin was born on June 4, 1836 in Filleigh, Devon, England, the third child, second daughter of Robert Bird Joslin and Mary Ann Adams. She arrived in Boston on the ship Meridium with her sister Charlotte on May 31 1854. Ann married William Jones on July 2, 1858 in Chelsea, Suffolk, Mass. She died there on April 19, 1918.



William Jones was born on November 7 1820 in Liverpool, England. the son of John Jones and Sarah Ann Thornwaite. It is not known when he immigrated. His marriage to Ann is listed as a second marriage. I have not found information about his first marriage. William died on October 24, 1894 in Chelsea.

William Thornwaite Jones was born January 5, 1859 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He married Minnie Steen (1866-1934) on November 3, 1895 in Chelsea. He died there on January 15, 1934.

George Henry Jones was born February 19, 1862 in Chelsea. He married Elizabeth Evelyn Woods (1866 - 1954) on July 18, 1888. He died in Chelsea on December 15, 1906.

Sarah Elizabeth Jones was born on August 19, 1873 in Chelsea. She married George Edward Varney (1875-1969) on September 12, 1900 in Chelsea. She died on March 11, 1920 in Somorswroth, Strafford, New Hampshire.

Charles Augustus Jones was born on January 5, 1875 in Chelsea. He married Jennie Beatrice Clowser (1880 - 1964 ) on July 15, 1903 in Somerville, Mass. He died on March 20, 1937 in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska.
