The thirteenth photo in the album is of Frank Lincoln Walkley (1867-1961), and his son Albert Coe Walkley (1896-1983), Elizabeth Coe's brother-in-law and his second son.  

Frank Lincoln Walkley was born on 9 June 1867 in Pavilion, Genesee County, New York, the son of Rosman L Walkley (1838-1930) and Maryetta Peck (1843-1922). 

He married Carrie Evelyn Coe (1864-1948), daughter of Albert Coe (1827-1907) and Deborah Prentice (1833-1910) on 21 June 1894 in Le Roy, Genesee County. 

Frank and Carrie Walkley had five children: Fred Rosman (1895-1981), Albert Coe (1896-1983), Clarence Williard (1898-1983), Floyd Frank (1900-1981) and James Harry (1903-1985). 

The Walkley family lived in Le Roy their entire married lives, where Frank was a farmer. Carrie died in Le Roy on 5 August 1948. Frank died in Wyoming County, New York on 13 July 1961. They are both buried in Machpelah Cemetery in Le Roy.

Albert Coe Walkley was born on 4 October 1896 in Le Roy, the son of Frank Lincoln Walkley and Carrie Evelyn Coe. He married Jane Conning Donnan (1899-1979), the daughter of Nathan Wells Donnan (1862-1952) and Elizabeth Robinson (1870=-1943) on 30 June 1927 in Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. 

Albert Coe Walkley died on 24 May 1983 in Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana. His wife Jane died on 30 December 1979 in Pasco, Pasco County, Florida. 





 


Based on Albert' age in the photograph, it was taken in 1897. He was born in October - he looks older than 3 months, and younger than 15 months. 

The photographer was Charles J. Brooks (1870-1947) who had a photo studio in Le Roy from at least 1897-1930.

   I recently received a set of recipe cards from a cousin that were written by out grandmother Evelyn Clara (Call) Hankins, probably between 1920 (when she married) and 1962 (when she died). My grandmother was born in Wichita, Sedgewick, Kansas in 1895. Within a few months of her birth, the family moved back to Stafford, Genesee County, New York where her parents, Charles Joslin Call (1859-1939) and Elizabeth Ann Coe (1862-1956) were born. Evelyn lived in Stafford on the family farm until she left for college, first at Northwestern University in Chicago and then at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She graduated from Cornell in 1919 with a degree in Home Economics. After graduating, she worked for a year at Wells College in Aurora, Cayuga, New York, possibly as the Superintendent of a Dormitory, as a housekeeper or as a teacher.   The fifteenth photo in the album is Mary Ellen (Ross) Hankins (1835-1914), wife of Lucas Wurtz Hankins.  Mary Ellen Ross was born 25 August 1835 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Ross (1791-1837) and Sarah Kellam (1797-after 1850). She married Lucas Wurtz Hankins (1831-1910), son of John Hankins (1803-1847) and Susan Thomas (1811-1885) on 5 August 1857 at the home of Benjamin Tyler. Lucas and Mary Ellen had three children: Laura Ardella (1858-1859) Howard Ross (1863-1922) married first Emma M. Adding a Citation to a Document using Photoshop Elements 2023

This is the first is an occasional series of blog posts on using Photoshop Elements 2023 for genealogists. Many of my genealogist friends know I'm also a photographer, so have asked me how I do some things with genealogy-related images. The problem is - I use Photoshop and Lightroom - which are probably overkill for most genealogists, and are a subscription-based package. I used to recommend Irfanview (and still do for some things) but I was finding it hard to do some of what I do in Photoshop in Irfanview.  So enter Photoshop Elements 2023 - it has more features than Irfanview but isn't as user-hostile as Photoshop can be. And it's available for purchase as a stand-alone package - no monthly subscription fees!
