Tues. Sept 7. Schools began to-day.    Edith  is teaching  in Stafford.   Louisa began school   and is in Edith's room. Herbert is in the 5th grade, in Miss Clara Rudolph's room. Thelma asked Alden and me to go to the Rochester Exposition. Irving went also. We saw what we wanted to in 1 1/2 hours. Then went to the Rochester Museum, which I really enjoyed.  Thurs Sept 23. Photos of Victor Ortlund and Lynford Lardner, Evanston, Illinois - 1915-1916 - page 9

I'm very lucky to have several of my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) photo albums. And perhaps even luckier that she labeled many of the photos - so I know roughly when and where they were taken, and who was in the photos.  My grandmother attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1915-1916, and then Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1916-1919.  These photos, from page 9 of the album, show two little boys, Victor Ortlund and his friend Linford, and a photo of the Ortlund family dining room.  I believe Victor Ortlund is Victor Bristol Ortlund (1911-1999), son of Victor Ernest Ortlund (1888-1956) and Ada C Hughs(1888-1988). According to city directories, in 1914 and 1917 - Victor E. Ortlund, the manager of a French Laundry, lived at 816 Milburn Street in Evanston.  I believe Linford is Lynford Alexander Lardner (1910-1977) son of James Lawrence Lardner (1874-1966) and Eliza Jeannette Burkhard (1876-1945). According to city directori...

Where there was identifying information on the page about the photo, I've included it as a caption under the photo.  Page 3 - unidentified location Page 4 - unidentified locations and person Page 5 - Buildings on the Northwestern Campus College of Engineering, Northwestern University Fiske Hall, Northwestern University Gate to Campus, Northwestern University Lunt Library, Northwestern University Old College, Northwestern University...
