Photos of Victor Ortlund and Lynford Lardner, Evanston, Illinois - 1915-1916 - page 9

I'm very lucky to have several of my grandmother Evelyn Clara Call's (1895-1962) photo albums. And perhaps even luckier that she labeled many of the photos - so I know roughly when and where they were taken, and who was in the photos.

My grandmother attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1915-1916, and then Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1916-1919.

These photos, from page 9 of the album, show two little boys, Victor Ortlund and his friend Linford, and a photo of the Ortlund family dining room.

I believe Victor Ortlund is Victor Bristol Ortlund (1911-1999), son of Victor Ernest Ortlund (1888-1956) and Ada C Hughs(1888-1988). According to city directories, in 1914 and 1917 - Victor E. Ortlund, the manager of a French Laundry, lived at 816 Milburn Street in Evanston.

I believe Linford is Lynford Alexander Lardner (1910-1977) son of James Lawrence Lardner (1874-1966) and Eliza Jeannette Burkhard (1876-1945). According to city directories, in 1914 and 1917, James L. Lardner, a professor at Northwestern University, lived at 810 Milburn Street in Evanston.
