Elizabeth Alberta Call and Walter Scott Daniels - c 1891 - page 29 of Charles Joslin Call and Elizabeth Ann Coe's Photo Album
The twenty-fourth photo in the album is Elizabeth Alberta Call and her husband Walter Scott Daniels, sister and brother-in-law of Charles Joslin Call.
Elizabeth Alberta Call was born on 12 July 1862 in Stafford, Genesee County, New York, the daughter of Robert Call (1831-1913) and Charlotte Joslin (1834-1908). Walter Scott Daniels was born on 12 April 1863 in Wyoming County, New York, the son of Charles S. Daniels (1839-1879) and Louise A. Hufteland (1843-1922).
Elizabeth and Walter married on 12 March 1891 in Stafford. They lived in either Stafford or Morganville for their entire married lives. The couple had five children:
- Charles Clark (1892-1983)
- Charlotte Louise (1893-1958)
- Rosaline Alberta (1897-1990)
- Frances Emogene (1903-1984)
- Flora Elizabeth (1908-1999)
Walter Scott Daniels and Elizabeth Alberta Call married in March 1891. This photograph was probably taken either shortly before or shortly after their wedding.
The dress Elizabeth is wearing dates to about 1890-1891, with the shoulders starting to puff up, but the sleeve still tight to her arm. Walter's suit dates from about 1889-1890, based on the collar style. His moustache would date the photo to closer to the mid-1890s.
The uneven scalloped edges of the card place it between 1887-1894. The fringed chair Walter is sitting on is usually found in photographs created in the 1860s and 1870s. By the 1890s, the fringe would have been very out-of-fashion.
The photographer, Charles W. Tallman (1834-1913) had a photography studio in Batavia, Genesee County from the 1870s through at least 1892. By 1900, he was living in Wyoming County, with his occupation listed as farmer.
