Josephine E. Crocker and her daughter Alice Louise Pratt - c. early 1880s - page 27 of Charles Joslin Call and Elizabeth Ann Coe's Photo Album

The twenty-second photograph in the album is Josephine E. Crocker and her daughter Alice Louise Pratt. Josephine was Elizabeth Ann Coe's first cousin.

Josephine E. Crocker was born 13 April 1843 in Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Crocker (1819-1899) and Huldah Melissa Coe (1821-1902). Huldah Melissa was Albert Coe's (Elizabeth's father) older sister.

Josephine married Peabody W. Pratt (1838-1874) son of David Pratt (1791-1882) and Electa Gibbs (1796-1874), between 1870 and 1872. They both were living in Le Roy, Genesee County, New York in 1870, so they probably married there. Their only child, Alice Louise, was born in Le Roy in 1872.

Peabody W. Pratt died in Le Roy on 24 November 1874. Josephine died on 10 May 1927 in Pittsburgh, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania.

Alice Louise Pratt was born on 27 July 1872 in Le Roy, the daughter of Peabody W. Pratt and Josephine E. Crocker. She married Cartter Weaver (1871-1924), son of John DeWitt Weaver (1833-1910) and Nancy Elizabeth Cartter (1833-1914)  on 12 August 1908 in Le Roy. Their only child, William Cartter Weaver, was born in Pittsburgh on 31 May 1911.

Cartter Weaver died on 5 April 1924 in Pittsburgh. Alice Louise died on 24 November 1950 in Pittsburgh. And their son William Cartter died there on 13 October 1986.

This photograph was likely taken in the early 1880s. Sherman Gregg had his photography studio at 78 State Street in Rochester from 1876-1883. Alice Louise Pratt was born in 1872 - and she looks to be a young girl, probably not yet 10 years old in the photograph.

The photograph and card are not a standard size. It is a few inches longer and about 1/2 narrower than most Cabinet Cards. I haven't been able to identify the size of the card, which could help narrow the date.

If this was a standard cabinet card, the dark card would place it sometime after 1886, which is inconsistent with the dates Gregg had his studio at 78 State Street.

Josephine's hair and dress style are consistent with a photograph from the early 1880s.
