Mabelle and Merrill Call - early 1890s - page 28 of Charles Joslin Call and Elizabeth Ann Coe's Photo Album

The twenty-third photo in the album is Mabelle and  Merrill Call, children of  Albert Henry Call, niece and nephew of Charles Joslin Call.

Albert Henry Call (1857-1934) was the oldest surviving son of Robert Call (1831-1913) and Charlotte Joslin (1834-1908).  He married Effie May White (1852-1935), daughter of Salma White (1817-1881) and Betsy Chittenden (1823-1912) in 1878. Albert and Effie had four children: Russell White (1879-1944), Archie Duane (1881-1956), Ralph Merrill (1885-1959) and Mabelle (1887-1956). This photograph shows the two younger children.

Ralph Merrill Call was born 7 November 1885 in Stafford, Genesee County, New York. He married Edith Harper (1886-1965) on 26 February 1908 in Genesee County. Ralph and Edith had four children: Ralph Alfred (1909-1973), Kenneth Harper (1912-1974), Floyd Henry (1913-1960) and Doris Muriel (1920-1996). Ralph Merrill Call died on 19 January 1959 in Stafford.

Mabelle Call was born 23 July1887 in Stafford. She married Albert Lewis Goff (1885-1971) on 28 March 1928 in Genesee County. The Goffs had no children. Mabelle Call died on 17 September 1956 in Elba, Genesee County.

Based on Mabelle and Merril's ages in the photograph, this photograph was taken in the early 1890s.

The photographer was George M. Hoffman (1867-1952), son of Wesley Hoffman (1824-1900) and Elizabeth McMartin (1824-1896). In 1900, his occupation was listed in the census as photographer. By 1910, his occupation was listed as painter.  I haven't been able to find enough information about his studio to know when he used this style of card for his photographs.
